Labour exploitation rarely announces itself. It reaches us through a housing problem, an unpaid wage, a health worry or a question about papers, and the people it affects are often invisible in the very systems built to protect them.

A half-day hybrid conference for Salvation Army staff and volunteers, civil society actors and professionals who meet people at risk of labour exploitation. It is part of a Nordic learning journey that continues with digital workshops through 2026 and 2027, and closes with a Nordic conference in Stockholm on 20 May 2027.

Before the conference
Preparatory digital workshop optional
Friday 2 October 2026, 13:00–14:30 CEST, on Teams
This 90-minute preparatory workshop will explore how labour exploitation is defined and addressed in Swedish, Norwegian and Finnish law, and how similar cases may be classified differently across the three countries.
The workshop provides background and context for the November conference. Participation is optional, and the workshop can be attended independently of the conference.
How we handle your details

Why we ask. To register you, to send you practical information and the streaming link, and to order lunch and prepare the room. Nothing else. We do not use your details for marketing and we do not share them with third parties. The Salvation Army in Sweden and Finland are partners in the project but do not receive this list.

How long we keep it. Lunch and accessibility details are deleted within two weeks after the conference: they have no purpose afterwards. Name, e-mail, organisation, role, country and attendance format are deleted no later than 31 December 2026. Only the number of participants per country is kept after that, for the report to the funder; that figure contains no personal details.

Your rights. You may ask to see, correct or delete your details at any time, and to withdraw this consent: write to the address above and we will act on it. You may also complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.

Where it is stored. Your details are kept in a database run for us by Supabase, on servers in Stockholm, Sweden: inside the European Economic Area. The page itself is hosted by Netlify. Both act only on our instructions. Nobody can read the list through the website; it is readable only by the organiser, after signing in. The deletion dates above are carried out automatically by the database itself, not from memory.

One copy we cannot delete for you. Each registration is also sent to the organiser by e-mail, so a copy stays in her mailbox at The Salvation Army until she deletes it. The automatic dates above cover the database, not that mailbox. Ask her and she will remove it.

Online participants receive a streaming link before the conference.

Dr. Natalia Ollus Director of HEUNI, the European Institute for Crime Prevention and Control (affiliated with the United Nations), Finland: a leading Nordic researcher on human trafficking, forced labour and the exploitation of migrant workers.
Anni Lietonen Researcher at HEUNI, Finland, working on human trafficking, labour exploitation and the responsibility of businesses. Co-author of Safety for all?, HEUNI's study of remedy for exploited migrant workers in the Nordic region. She speaks on high-risk sectors and the warning signs of labour exploitation in construction, cleaning and agriculture.
Lars Mamen Managing Director of Fair Play Bygg Oslo og omegn, Norway: a joint labour–employer initiative that uncovers work-related crime in the construction sector and reports it to the authorities.
Magdalena Lennmarken and Helena Lans Swedish Centres Against Work-related Crime: Sweden's inter-agency collaboration against work-related crime and human exploitation.

Programme

The detailed programme is being finalised with our partners in Sweden and Finland and will be published here before registration closes. The conference runs from 09:00 to 13:00, with lunch afterwards for participants in Oslo.
